The Bundaberg Carina Speedway has a new owner and is soon to reopen with an exciting program of racing for the 2017-18 season.
The speedway has been purchased by The Shed Alliance National Buying Group, a family-owned business supplying steel sheds, carports, barns, patios and steel buildings to shed resellers and builders Australia-wide.
Managing Director Dave Vaughan said the company will be investing heavily to ensure the newly-renamed Bundaberg Shed Alliance Motorplex resumes its position as one of the top speedways in regional Australia.
“We are really excited by the possibilities we can see to improve and expand the facilities and range of events held at the Shed Alliance Motorplex,” Mr Vaughan said.
“We have been interested in the facility for a few months and now the sale has gone through we won’t be wasting any time and will be announcing a full program for 2017-18 in the near future.
“It is not just the news all Queensland speedway enthusiasts have been waiting on, it is the news Shed Alliance has been waiting to share.”
Mr Vaughan said plans were in progress to make speedway racing among many motorsport and non-motorsport events to be held at the Shed Alliance Motorplex.
“As well as speedway cars, motorsport fans will also be able to see speedway bikes and speedway sidecars, and have a top-class venue for burnouts, drifting, motocross, mud drags and go karts,” he said.
The new promoter for the Shed Alliance Motorplex is Barry Pearce, a 50-year veteran as a driver, racer, team owner and promoter of speedway events, drift meetings, burnout meetings and go kart racing.
The new speedway season starts in September and will feature all classes of cars including Late Model Race Cars, Super Sedans, V8 Wing Sprints, V8 Non Wing Sprints, AMCA’s, Modlites, Junior Sedans, Bundy Bangers and Stock Cars.
The Shed Alliance Motorplex features a third-of-a-mile track many believe is the fastest in Australia and is situated on 100 acres of land just 15 minutes outside the Bundaberg CBD.
The speedway originally opened in 1966 and is rich in history with drivers from around Australia and the world racing at the track in a host of national and state titles.
Events will be advertised on the new website www.bundabergmotorplex.com.au and via social media, radio and television.
